Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge level of actively practicing dentists in Türkiye regarding dental stem cells and to determine the specific areas in which knowledge deficiencies are most pronounced.Materials and Methods: A total of 384 dentists in Türkiye participated in a Google Forms–based online survey.
The questionnaire consisted of three main sections: a 17-item sociodemographic information form, a 24-item knowledge assessment divided into seven subdomains, and a SWOT analysis section. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0, while qualitative data were evaluated through thematic analysis.Results: Among the 384 respondents, 93.2% demonstrated below-average knowledge regarding the acquisition, use, and storage of dental stem cells, while 84.5% expressed willingness to attend educational programs on this topic.
Dentists with specialty or doctoral education exhibited significantly higher knowledge of stem-cell-related complications (χ² = 8.926, p = 0.003). Attendance at scientific meetings and congresses was also associated with significantly greater knowledge levels (p < 0.001). SWOT analysis revealed that the most prominent opportunity was motivation and desire for learning (22 mentions), the major weakness was lack of clinical application experience (20 mentions), and the primary threat was the inadequacy and ambiguity of current regulations (17 mentions).Conclusions: Dentists in Türkiye demonstrate substantial knowledge gaps regarding dental stem cells but exhibit a strong willingness to pursue education in this field.
